Throw pillows are one of the easiest ways to refresh a space. Throw pillows are perfect for a simple revamp or decorating for the seasons, holidays or even current events. Discounted Designer Fabrics makes it easy to find the perfect fabric and save money by making them yourself!
DIY pillow covers will save you money!
$95 for one fun and trendy pillow? No thank you. Making pillow covers yourself is an inexpensive way to keep your couch fresh with a constant rotation of color, patterns and fresh designs. As long as you have 4-6 inserts, all you need are various covers to swap out as often as you would like. Plus, storing covers is more space conscious than storing tons of pillows! Since we offer all of our fabrics at discounted prices with a minimum of only one yard, you can make several DIY pillow covers for the same price it would cost to buy one pillow from a retail store. Most throw pillows only need 1 yard of fabric.
Pro Tips:
1. Mix textures patterns and colors with your pillow covers
2. Takes some risks with your decorating, it may turn out perfect and definitely unique!
3. Power of odd numbers: use an odd number of pillows for a more inviting look
4. Mix pillow sizes and types: don’t just use plain rectangle throw pillows. Instead combine rectangles, squares or even circles.
5. Symmetry is boring, instead make use of #3 and #4 above to overcome this!
6. Bring your room together. Do you have a bright purple chair that is out of place? Why not put bright purple throw pillows on a neighboring sofa. This will make the chair feel more at home.
7. Karate chop (image below). This is a personal preference, but it is effective for making your sofa look more inviting. Simply use the side of your hand and push down in the middle of the pillow. Then pull the top corners out a bit to make the indent less intense.
